Ms. Oluwatoyin Bashorun is a legal practitioner practicing in Lagos Nigeria with Churchfields Solicitors, a Law firm which she set up and runs. The offices of the Firm are situate in Lagos, Portharcout and Abuja. The Firm was founded in October 1998. She presently operates from the Lagos office of the Firm.
She has practiced as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria since 1988 when she was called to the Bar in Nigeria. Her initial training and pupilage with Chief F.R.A Williams (SAN) for about a decade helped position her for the versatile practice which she now runs.
She has sat on several committees and participated actively in the Nigerian Bar and other International bodies such as the International Federation of women Lawyers (FIDA), Advocates International, INTA an Intellectual Property Practitioners Association and of course the International Bar Association. She was a member of NBA prosecuting team of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee between 2013 and 2017.
She has served on the committee on Environment, Health and Safety law of the IBA where she was the vice chair. She was the Editor of the African Regional Forum News Letter, the Vice Chair (West Africa) African Regional Forum of the International Bar Association. She served as a member of the Magistracy and Justice Reform committee of the Lagos State of Nigeria (2009), member PPID Council of the International Bar Association (2005 – 2015). She served as secretary NBA stamp and Seal committee (2013), which birth the present stamp and seal dispensation of the NBA.
Miss Bashorun’s legal practice specializes in International Economic Law as well corporate law and Commercial/cross border litigation. She has a flare for Environment Law and Intellectual Property law. Her salad days with the legal luminary Chief Rotimi Williams SAN has made her an astute litigation lawyer. ‘Toyin Bashorun as she is fondly called was elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in July 2017 and finally conferred with the instrument of office and certificate of the conferment on 14th of December 2020.
She has written and delivered papers on Environmental Law and sustainable development at various international law foras, Including the International Bar Association, and the Terralex Association of Lawyers. Her firm has been consistently selected as the WHO is WHO Legal leading Environment Law firm since 2009 and she was show cased as a leading Environment and safety counsel in the field in the 2014 edition.
She holds a masters Degree in law from the University of Lagos Nigeria, Special Masters in Trade policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, (Executive Education), Harvard University Cambridge USA. She is a Special member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators U.K.
