Professional Profile

Temisan Omatseye hails from Warri in Delta state Nigeria. He had his early Education at Millfield School, Street, Somerset, United Kingdom, thereafter he attended University of Wales at Aberystwyth, where he got a Joint Honors Bsc. (Econs) (Hons) degree in Law/Politics. On getting his degree he returned to Nigeria in 1987 to attend the Nigerian Law School from whence he was called to the Nigerian Bar in May 1989.


He did the compulsory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) where he served at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Lagos at the time under Mrs. Monica Mbanefo as an Assistant Legal Adviser (ALA) 1988-89
On completing his NYSC he returned to the United Kingdom to do a Master of Law degree (specializing in Maritime Law) at the London School of Economics (L.S.E.), University of London, and graduated in 1990.
On completing his Masters Degree in Law returned to Nigeria and joined the family business and was given the task of collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Mines and Power and the Ajaokuta Steel Company to formulate a strategy for the importation and transportation of Coking Coal to Nigeria and taking same up the River Niger through the inland waterways using barges to Ajaokuta Steel Complex.


After the inability of the then government to start the coke ovens as planned he set up his company Polmaz Limited which was specialized in marine transportation, logistics and Engineering. His first task was to work with Panalpina in doing all the midstream discharge of imported equipment used for the construction of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG).
He worked tirelessly with the task force set up to act as a pressure group by the then Indigenous Shipowners Association (ISAN) to ensure the passage of the Cabotage Act in 2003.
He attended the Chief Executive Program (CEP 12) of the Lagos Business and is an Alumni of the LBS
He served as Director General / CEO of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) from July 2009 – December 2010
