Joy is a lawyer who holds a masters in International Maritime Law from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute in Malta and has been described as inquisitive and driven for excellence. With 7 years of work experience as a maritime specialist, her analytical approach to maritime law is key to her achieving the best outcomes to drive the growth and development of the maritime industry in Nigeria and internationally. Presently, Joy works for the Nigerian Shippers’ Council as a Senior Legal Officer. Before attaining this role, she worked with the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL) where she served as a legal officer for a year. In addition to all of this, Joy is a guest columnist for Financial Nigeria and has been writing for the prestigious monthly journal for the past eight years. She was headhunted by Financial Nigeria when they noticed a passion for her writing and a unique style in addressing the maritime issues in Nigeria where she gave insight on where the industry could improve on the administration of the maritime industry based on international protocols and conventions. She focuses her attention on areas in the Nigerian maritime industry that are lacking, using comparative analyses to provide solutions and possibilities for the development of the industry and the state of the economy through this channel.
Although Joy is just starting off in her career and has presently just kicked off her consultancy firm, she is eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, leveraging her skills, knowledge, and passion to contribute meaningfully to the maritime landscape. She has assumed a significant role within the industry, driving positive change and leaving an indelible mark on its evolution.
